Requirements to Get Married in Turks and Caicos

To legally get married in the Turks and Caicos Islands, couples must apply for a marriage licence through the Registrar’s Office. In most cases, one or both persons must be in Turks and Caicos for at least 48 hours before applying for the licence.

Documents usually required

Couples should prepare the following:

  1. Valid passport or government-issued photo ID

  2. Birth certificate

  3. Certificate of no impediment / single status letter from your home country, state, or registry office

  4. Affidavit of single status

  5. Divorce decree absolute, if either person was previously divorced

  6. Death certificate of former spouse, if either person is widowed

  7. Proof of legal status in Turks and Caicos, such as an entry stamp or immigration documentation

  8. Notarized translations for any documents that are not in English

documents written in a language other than English should be translated in advance and notarized by the appropriate consulate.

Marriage licence office

Marriage licences are issued by the Registrar’s Office in Providenciales. The office is generally open to the public Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
